As technology has improved the versatility of such equipment has become virtually limitless offering added security in either high profile or covert locations or establishments, which might otherwise be considered vulnerable.

Images from multiple cameras can be displayed on a single monitor using multiplexers or DVR recorders, and can record all events from multiple cameras over a monthly period.

Surveillance systems can be remotely monitored and controlled to allow panning, tilting and zooming of cameras and additional or infrared lighting can be provided to improve picture quality during periods of poor light.
